Unlocking the value of your IP at Leeds Digital Festival
Page White and Farrer will be participating in the Leeds Digital Festival, which takes place from 20 September to 1 October 2021 and celebrates the full range of technology and digital culture, including AI, data and software.
On 23 September, Virginia Driver and Tom Woodhouse will be giving a talk about safeguarding intellectual property and obtaining patents for tech startups alongside Paul Berwin and Sam Crich of Berwins Digital.
We know that there are many pressures in the tech sector. Customers want twice as much in half the time. Sprint times get shorter, requirement specifications get longer, and often all focus is on delivering the next milestone on time. But in the huge rush to release, you may be unintentionally leaking valuable intellectual property into the public domain – and once it is gone, it is gone for good.
As well as exploring practical steps you need to take to protect your intellectual property, Virginia and Tom will highlight the golden rule of IP:
- why talking to your IP advisers before anyone else is so important; and
- how to understand novelty in the context of patents.
Paul and Sam will be exploring:
- the impact of the right agreements and contracts, including confidentiality agreements and non-disclosure agreements; and
- what impact company structure and ownership agreements have on your business.
Date: Thursday 23 September 2021
Time: 1.00 – 2.00 pm
