Q and A with Peter Wallbank

Service:

Sectors:

Chief Operating Officer Peter Wallbank takes on our Q & A challenge.

Why did you become a Chief Operating Officer?

Becoming COO was a target I’d had for a while, having worked across different disciplines in professional service firms. I really enjoy the variety the role brings and the opportunity to make a real difference.

What attracted you to PWF?

The opportunity and the people. The opportunity, because there was real desire to move the business forward in many ways. The people, because without the right support and trust, the opportunities will never be realised.

What’s the best part of being a Chief Operating Officer?

The variety. I am someone who likes to be busy and get involved in lots of different things. That is certainly the case with my role!

What’s your top tip for anyone starting a career in IP?

I think this goes for any career but be curious and don’t be afraid to ask questions. It helps you to learn and shows you are interested.

What’s your greatest professional achievement?

I don’t think there is any one great thing, but a combination of doing lots of small things right consistently.

What are your career ambitions?

I’m at a stage in my career where I’m not thinking too far ahead. Primarily, I want to continue to do a good job, which is often a big enough challenge!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

That patience really is a virtue. Earlier in my career, I really wanted to progress quickly, but taking time to really develop good knowledge and expertise and a strong understanding of roles and responsibilities is what will ultimately get you to where you want to be.

How do you keep busy when not at work?

I have two teenage children, so most of my time is dedicated to being Dad’s taxi and supporting them with their interests!

What’s the last item you bought on Amazon?

A new cricket bag. I’ve started playing again after a 20+ year hiatus. Getting the necessary equipment has been easy. Finding some ability, less so!
