James Fiddes

James started his career in intellectual property in 2023 and joined Page White Farrer in August 2025. He has a 1^st class master’s degree in physics from the University of Durham.

James’ degree included theoretical physics, quantum computing, and condensed matter physics, with a particular focus on computational physics and numerical analysis. His final-year project focussed on theoretical modelling and computer simulation of bright matter-wave solitons in attractively interacting Bose-Einstein condensates.

Working as part of the AI and Data Science team, James is focussing on drafting and patent prosecution for inventions that relate to machine learning, artificial intelligence, parallel computing hardware and other computer-related subject-matter. James’ areas of interest include:

• photonics and lasers;
• signal processing and telecommunications;
• machine learning and artificial intelligence;
• cryptography; and
• blockchain.
