About Marc

Marc has been working in the field of intellectual property for over 20 years, including three years in the IP department of a large Japanese corporation in Japan, and two years in private practice in Germany.

His work involves cooperating closely with both engineers and business managers to identify and protect new intellectual property, including: devising patent filing strategies; filing and prosecuting patent applications across the world; and managing patent portfolios with a tight focus on commercial aims.

Marc works across a wide range of technical areas, drawing on analytical skills to break down complex IP issues into specific technical and commercial factors for engineers and business management. Over the years, he has advised on patents in a wide range of sectors including optics, mechanical engineering, telecommunications, semiconductor devices and chemistry.

The technical areas he covers include:

  • chemistry (inorganic, organic and physical);
  • mechanical engineering;
  • optics; and
  • telecommunications with specific expertise in optoelectronic devices, and polymers.

Having spent many years managing patent portfolios across multiple jurisdictions including the US, China, Japan, Europe and Korea, Marc knows the value of highly focussed and clear communications.

Fluent in Japanese, translation costs are reduced for clients in technical areas where Japanese prior art is concentrated. Marc is also experienced in the prosecution of patent applications in Japan.

He is proficient in German and French.
