About Martyn

Martyn studied physics at Oxford, with major options in particle physics and astrophysics for his master's degree, before joining Page White Farrer in 2004.

He has drafted patents and handled patent disputes in a wide variety of scientific fields. He works with companies to audit their intellectual property portfolio, and he works with engineers in a business to help them to identify and capture inventions where there is the potential for patents.

Over the years, he has helped companies to build up a valuable portfolio of patents and is responsive to his client’s needs.

Martyn’s clients come from a range of technical industries such as audio and video coding, computer architecture, signal processing, visible light communications, network protocols, and user interfaces. The technical areas he covers include:

  • computing (software patents and hardware);
  • digital electronics;
  • electronic and electrical engineering;
  • information technology;
  • mechanical engineering;
  • physics; and
  • telecommunications.

Martyn is an affiliate member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). He has also conducted training workshops on intellectual property awareness for engineers.
